I started with Datalogic in 1998 in Bologna as firmware developer for hand-helds. I had the opportunity to build a strong expertise in SW, digital HW and some optoelectronics. In 4 years I became the leader of a group of engineers focused on new product development. After the acquisition of PSC, Datalogic gave me a great opportunity: move to Oregon and work side by side with the new colleagues. I will always be grateful to Datalogic for this opportunity. It’s been an extraordinary experience, not only from the career standpoint but also for my personal growth as I had a chance to challenge myself with a new culture, fairly different from my one, meet a lot of new friends and visit new places, not quite as a tourist. It’s been a unique situation for my family. I still remember when I was taught by my daughter on how to pronounce of the word “turtle”. She got fluent in few months. Much better than me!

With the guys in Eugene, we worked hard to pick the best of the technology from both sides and build the basement for the new generations of products. After 2 years I moved back to Italy and I was appointed to Advanced Development Manager in Datalogic Automation. So I was projected into a brand new world for me, the Industrial Automation. My role is very exciting. I lead a team of engineers that develops SW for Computer Vision and Industrial Communication, two core competences for our business. The part of my job that I love more is working with the University and with several other partners worldwide on topics of advanced technology. From one of these partnerships it’s been founded a new research center in Bologna, the Vialab, that I currently manage. 

In my opinion, working with Datalogic means to be ready to change constantly and challenge yourself with new goals, different and ambitious. It also means that you will see the results of your effort and see how those are acknowledged by the company. Nonetheless it means the opportunity to stay with people highly motivated and skilled and to go everyday to the office knowing that you will learn more and grow up.
