Datalogic Launches the Gryphon GD4400-DPM Imager New Handheld Scanner for Light Industrial Applications Reading Direct Part Marking Symbologies

Availability of this scanner is limited to specific regions including: Asia/Greater China and Latin America.

Eugene – May 21, 2015 - Datalogic, a global leader in Automatic Data Capture and Industrial Automation markets, and world-class producer of bar code readers, mobile computers, sensors, vision systems and laser marking equipment, today announced the launch of the newest addition to the Gryphon family of handheld scanners – the Gryphon™ GD4400-DPM handheld scanner for light industrial applications reading bar codes on digital part mark items.

This new scanner is an area imager specifically designed to address Direct Part Marking (DPM) code reading in electronic industries.  Direct Part Marking is a process that allows users to imprint a bar code directly on an item instead of printing the code on a paper label. Different technologies are available to directly mark objects: laser or chemical etching, dot peening and ink jet printing. Each method has specific advantages and disadvantages in terms of durability, cost and ease of reading.

The Gryphon GD4400-DPM imager provides the best balance between price/performances, making it the ideal solution to read well printed DPM Symbologies in light ambient conditions.

“The electronics market relies on DPM bar codes to track subassemblies and finished goods and the new Gryphon DPM imager specifically fills a need within this industry” states Giulio Berzuini, General Manager and Vice President of the Handheld Business Unit at Datalogic.  “We have extended DPM reading capability into light industrial applications and added user friendly features and ergonomics to increase efficiency and traceability in production environments.”

Included in the new Gryphon imager is an intuitive aiming system that provides the highest first-pass reading rates. Illumination is provided by a soft-pulsed white light resulting in reduced flashes and is very gentle to the eyes. The highly visible 4-Dot aimer provides a clear indication of the reading area, making targeting codes quick and easy. Datalogic’s patented ‘Green Spot’ technology is standard providing additional visual good-read confirmation which is ideal for assembly applications where noise may be a factor. Datalogic Aladdin™ configuration software and Remote Host Management software provide simple tools to manage scanners and keep them synchronized across an enterprise.
