Gian Paolo Fedrigo, CEO of Datalogic Mobile, speaks out on the state of health of the market and on his expectations for 2010

“The business of Datalogic Mobile – Fedrigo explained – suffered from the heavy crisis that hit this field of the ADC market throughout the whole of 2009, but we are hopeful for the future because our market share is stable and the company ended the year positively, thanks also to the esteemed and constant support of partners and customers”. “We noticed an initial rebound in June – he continued – September was our biggest month in bookings in the past three years. A nice surprise after the weak first five months, which gives us hope and enables us to keep an optimistic outlook".

This success is thanks to the strategies and specific actions that Datalogic put in place last year to face up to the crisis that hit the international market heavily.
“In 2009 we “right-sized” the company to match our sales - Fedrigo pointed out – but we also strengthened our marketing efforts. The aim is to be closer to our partners and customers. Customer intimacy is a big focus for Datalogic. We put in place a number of new tools, for example, we launched a new channel program. The authoritative American magazine Business Solutions gave Datalogic an award for being the “Best Channel Vendor” for two years running, in 2009 and in 2010: the esteemed designation came from praising reseller and distributor feedback.

“In addition – Fedrigo explained - Datalogic Mobile strengthened its Website to enable users and partners to contact us 24/7, and launched an innovative Online Order system.
Another part of the changes included an increase of about 15% in R&D spending”. Innovation and technological development of the products have indeed always been a key factor for Datalogic. “We will soon introduce two brand new innovative and cutting edge products to the market – he added”.

Your predictions for 2010? “What I can say – Fedrigo explained – is that our company is now more ready to handle whatever happens in 2010. Our success will be from the hard work we did in 2009 during one of the toughest economic times in our history”.
How will Datalogic approach the coming months therefore? “We will look carefully at the worldwide market – he continued – also because not all countries are recovering from the recession at the same rate and in the same way”. The U.S. economy is rebounding earlier than European economies generally speaking, Italy, Germany, France and the UK are recovering quicker than some of their European counterparts and the Asian economies don’t seem to be growing as quickly as they were.
“Today, to be able to look towards the future optimistically – Fedrigo ended – businesses must be flexible, well prepared and nimble in reacting to the market, while always being focused on the long-term plan.
