Roberto Tunioli, Vice Chairman and CEO of Datalogic S.p.A., gave his speech at the ID WORLD Conference 2008, an international event focused on the Automatic ID industry.

Milan, Italy, November 19, 2008 - Automatic identification solutions currently add a vital change that will allow both public institutes and private businesses to aim at greater competitiveness. But how is the Automatic ID technology actually expected to develop in the future?  Roberto Tunioli, Vice Chairman and CEO of Datalogic S.p.A., held a speech on this topic during the ID WORLD Conference. This seventh yearly summit of the Auto ID industry took place at the Milanofiori Congress Centre in Milan, from the 18th - 20th November.

"Barcode technology - Mr. Tunioli explained - is able to cover more than 95% of any data collection process or activity: the foreseeable future is more brilliant than ever thanks to the new "GS1 Databar" and thanks to hybrid solutions with other enabling data collection technologies such as finger recognition, eye recognition, RFID, etc.". Datalogic is a role leader on the international Automatic ID technology market: its devices are indeed amongst the first in the industry to read and decode the new GS1 DataBar™, a new type of barcode for labelling retail trade items that will come into force as of the 1st of January 2010.
"The world has been moving from analogic to digital in the last 20 years - Mr. Tunioli added - and the process is expected to speed up in the future: Barcode is the fuel".

So the frontrunner of the event was yet again Datalogic and its CEO. Let's not forget also that in December last year, Mr. Tunioli did indeed win the "ID People Award 2007" in the ID Limelight category: an important recognition awarded to people who have captured the attention of the press for their revolutionary ideas on possible applications in the Automatic Identification industry.
