Bethel School District Libraries Run Smoothly After Donation of Datalogic Scanners
Library Book Checkout a Breeze with “Best-of-Class” Proven QuickScan Scanners
Eugene, Oregon, February, 12, 2008 – It’s a perfect match: a local world-renown, quarter-billion Dollar Company interested in helping the community, and a handful of school libraries desperate for some assistance. The result is a quick and smooth-running book checkout system now in place in all Bethel School District libraries.
Datalogic Scanning, Inc. is the company, a leading world-wide manufacturer of bar code readers. They had just what the Bethel school libraries needed: scanners. The school libraries were using new software but old equipment, making the book checkout system inefficient and tedious.
That’s where Datalogic Scanning Applications Engineer, Al Mora, came into the picture. Al is a Bethel School parent (his wife works at Danebo Elementary) and he wanted to lend a hand. Moses Tam, a Datalogic Product Marketing Manager for handheld scanners located a dozen QuickScan 6000Plus bar code scanners for donation. Datalogic also donated Al’s time, with help from co-worker and fellow Bethel parent, Joe Schafer, to install the devices in each of their libraries. Now Bethel’s school media specialists hum right along, checking out library books with the click of a button.
“The scanners donated by Datalogic have been so helpful to the Bethel school libraries. They have been used to assist with inventory, circulation, and cataloging new materials. We really appreciate the generosity of Al Mora and Datalogic for this wonderful boost to our libraries and our patrons!” said Kathy Yates, Willamette High School Librarian.
“One of Datalogic Scanning’s goals has been to contribute to the local community in ways that make a difference for people in Eugene,” said Bill Parnell, Datalogic Scanning’s President and CEO. “We are one of the largest employers in Eugene, and it’s important that we do our part to support not only the local economy, but the local community members.”
So the next time you hear that beep of a scanner as you go through the check out line at the grocery store, you’ll be reminded of the story of the perfect match of Datalogic Scanning and Bethel Schools.
