Two products of Datalogic in two different categories, awarded as the “Best Channel Products 2009” by the American Business Solutions magazine

Best Channel Product 2009Bologna, Italy, September 2009 - The authoritative American magazine "Business Solutions" specialised in the IT channel, named Datalogic Scanning, a division of Datalogic Group, as the winner of the "Best Channel Products" award in both the "Handheld Mobile Scanners" and "POS Bar Code Scanner" categories with its products PowerScan PM 8300 and Magellan 8500.

Outstanding success for the company from Bologna that won these awards with an impressive two products and, what's more, in two different categories, on the American market that focuses on innovation, on the quality of the products sold, on their performance and on the service offered. The questionnaire was drawn-up by the Business Solutions magazine in collaboration with the Penn State University in such a way to guarantee polling integrity in terms of statistical accuracy and the most reliable result possible.

Over 20.000 polling participants, of whom 2.000 were resellers, voted Datalogic's products as the best in terms of efficiency, durability and reliability compared to rival manufacturers. The PowerScan PM 8300 unit in particular was voted by the Value Added Resellers as the most rugged handheld scanner on the market and the Magellan 8500 unit as the most reliable checkout scanner overall.

Anniversary 35The Magellan product has by now been enjoying success for over thirty years. Magellan 8500 is indeed the direct descendant of the first bar code scanner devised 35 years ago in America, by Spectra Physics, later known as PSC and currently as Datalogic. Way back in 1974, the code of a packet of Wrigley Juicy Fruit was read by the first-ever Magellan checkout bar code scanner, Model A, in the Marsh a Troy supermarket in Ohio, emitting the very first typical noise known worldwide as the "beep". It is indeed this first 'beep' that now enables Datalogic to confirm that it was a pioneer of the automatic data capture market and now to be known as the leader of this market.
