Mega Image in Romania chooses the self-scanning solution from Datalogic

A Mega Image store in Bucharest adopts Shopevolution, the self-scanning solution from Datalogic, to offer innovative self-service.

Bucharest, March 14, 2011 - Mega Image (one of the companies within the Delhaize Group) launches a self-scanning solution in one pilot store. With a supermarket of 550 square meters, designed according to customers' expectations, it ensures quality, freshness everyday low prices in the market, fast check-out and friendly service.
After the first 5 successful installations at Red Market stores in Belgium, Mega Image chose Shopevolution for Bucharest as well.
This decision not only confirms the desire to offer a modern and efficient shopping service, but it also becomes a winning strategic tool for the retailer, a new way to differentiate itself from its competitors; by promoting the purchase propensity, thanks to the fact that the more time can be dedicated to product selection with less time waiting in queues.
Mega Image is the largest supermarket chain in Bucharest, with a total network of 74 stores. The chosen store for implementation is Mega Image Liziera situated in the fashionable district of Pipera. Here they use 96 terminals with which the customers begin their pleasant and customized shopping experience.
Customers scan the bar codes of various products and can see the price, the number of purchased items and total shopping amount on the colour display.
The selected products can then be placed directly into the customer's shopping bags and, once the checkout is reached, the customer simply hands the terminal to the cashier for receipt printing, dispensing the need to unpack the trolley and put the goods on the belt and then re-packing after payment, this saves customers a huge amount of time.
Furthermore, the cashier receives a notice indicating if anti-shoplifting tags are on certain products. Hence the cashier can then proceed with fast deactivation.
