Magellan 9800i扫描平台拥有先进影像技术，使用可靠性高，且可针对一维和二维码保证最高的扫描效率。这是全球首款完全由高性能数字化影像技术驱动的杂货条码结账扫描平台。

杰出的设计改善了人体工学特性，其较低的机罩高度为改进POS或自助结账触摸屏、支付终端和收据打印机设置进行改善。中心扬声器提供可定制WAV文件的音频反馈，以实现更高的保真度。大水平扫描窗符合人体工学地定位，便于站立和就座收银员作业。

另外这款新产品还有一个独特的可选TDR倒置阅读器配置，可以从上向下无缝读取商品顶部的条码标签；同时Magellan 9800i的这个倒置读头还创造了一个与顾客互动的新方式：面向顾客的影像式扫描头令顾客能够自主轻松读取手机设备上的电子优惠券，纸质优惠券和普通会员卡。

9800i现在有一个新的彩色相机配件TDi(Top Down imager)，用于旗舰产品9800i双窗影像零售扫描平台。 7英寸的高度是专门为零售业自助结账应用而设计，并为物品识别进行了优化。TDi与Magellan 9800i完全集成，这意味着红色照明不会干扰捕获的彩色图像。TDi还可以与TDR在同一台扫描平台共存。
