Bologna, 12 November 2007 - Datalogic Scanning has announced today the signing of a highly important contract with Poste Italiane, for a total value of over 3.5 million Euro, for the supply of bar code reader systems.
Datalogic Scanning, a wholly owned subsidiary of Datalogic S.p.A., recognized worldwide leader in the design, production and supply of bar code reader systems, won a public tender issued by Poste Italiane for the supply of n. 30.000 bar code readers which will be used to automate Post Offices all over Italy.
The deal concerns the supply to Poste Italiane of over 10.000 bar code readers by the end of 2007, and the rest by the end of 2008.
The winning solution consists of the new scanner with omni-directional imaging technology, Magellan 1000i, a next generation product which uses an intuitive system to reduce personnel scanning training time and speed up over-the-counter service resulting in guaranteed reliable and fast postal services. The Magellan 1000i belongs to the Magellan family of scanners which are renowned worldwide for their reliability, high performance for automated point of sale and customer service systems.
