In 2000, Datalogic continued the development of innovative solutions in the retail sector as well. Based on the first pilot projects launched by the acquired IDWare team, the first complete self-shopping solution was developed: the i7150 with its advanced dispenser system and the Shopevolution software. This small, innovative mobile computer provided the customer with maximum control over the shopping experience, virtually eliminating any waiting time at the check-out. At the supermarket entrance, customers could identify themselves with their loyalty card and then pick the i7150 mobile computer from the dispenser to self-scan items. The retailer could also use the system to prompt dedicated promotions to each client directly on their terminal, creating a personalized shopping experience.
